NGC 7789

Nothing very special, but here is a relatively old (1.6 billion years est.) open cluster NGC 7789. I think I see a whirlpool or rose petal pattern to this fairly dense cluster. A full size image and exposure / processing details are at:

(be sure to click on the image for full size)

This is my first image with the William Optics Reducer / Flattener III. I think it does a good job and with the smallish 11 mm diag ICX285 CCD (Art285), this reducer can go a little further than the advertised 0.8x compression. I think it falls off the cliff much past 0.68x compression though.

That's beautiful! With a larger aperture/dark sky this cluster looks like a rose, and you can see it here. The Rose Cluster.

Hey Jim, the stars look nice and resolution is good. The reducer seems to be working well.
I just put the TV .8 reducer on My DSI Pro II, but have not done an image with it on yet. I did use it on the DSI II Color camera with good results.

Thanks for the comments Gus on the NGC 7789 image - much appreciated. Dimitri, Rose Cluster - I like it.

A little off topic...
I am a bit late in the acknowledgement of the comments due to wildfires here in San Diego County (USA). I was briefly evacuated from my residence but I am back now. Some of the numbers - AS of sunset 10/23, 263,000 acres burned, 1,750 homes destroyed or damaged, 500,000 people evacuated. This is just in San Diego County. I am informed that 1M people were evacuated in all of Southern California.

Jim,

Another cool cluster shot! I'm glad all is well with you with regards to the fires. Here in Ohio, we're currently getting drenched, though we need it as well to overcome our own rainfall shortfall.
