NGC7331 with added bonus!!

Folks,

Here is my latest; with special bonus: extreme gradients!

I went after this galaxy with a vengeance, and finally got a night with about 2+ hours of good exposure, but I still had to stretch and slice and dice......

I think I need a couple more hours, or perhaps I should try my IDAS NBN-PV filter on this subject?

Advice would me much appreciated.

Well It's not too bad Alec but I would of thought you'd pick up more for a two hour exposure at f/3.3 ,though I can't tell what's up without seeing you raws myself.

Looks like you have some nice signal in there (really love how your captured the background galaxies) but, yep, big gradient. Actually looks like some big vignetting from the 3.3 FR, at least that's what I get with my 3.3 on an 8" SCT. Did you shoot flats? They would certainly help. Or, what processing software are you using? Lots of them have gradient removal processes that can help eliminate the vignetting, especially when it's so even (at least that's what I find with AstroArt and have been playing with it in PixInsight). That way you won't find yourself overstretching to overcome it. I think that will help make this shot outstanding!

I cobbled together some more acceptable frames for this pesky galaxy, and also reshot my flats and re-calibrated all of the subs;

now I have a total of 60 subs, about 40 to 50 of them three minutes, and the remainder are five minutes; figure about three hours total.

I did not bother to crop, and apparently I sharpened too aggressively....
