I pointed the little camera in the direction of this object for a couple of hours. I was actually impressed with the catch for such a short exposure. SH2-187 image and details are at:

http://www.jthommes.com/Astro/SH2-187.htm

I have it stretched kinda hard, but like I say, its more than I expected from this data. This is an LRGB image - Ha data I took was on too short a sub and the signal level was too weak to be usefull so it went unused.

Scope - Megrez 80 mm refractor at f/5
Camera - Artemis285 Edmund Optics RGB filters
Mount - CG5 (Celestron ASGT)
Guiding - Homemade 180 mm FL guide scope, DSI Pro, PhD Guiding

Jim,

A very rich field with equally rich colouration.

Thanks for the image and heads-up. I will add it to my list of targets.

Anthony.

Nice picture.

I think the Sharpless objects always give me a challenge. They seem rather dim compared to their starfields.

What a pretty area, Jim.
I've only seen widefield images of the area. It presents a lot better with your field of view.
It looks like there were lots of good guide stars to choose from. That's always an attractive quality for an imager.

That is a really interesting region. Sure, it could use more time, but I think you balanced the colors well. It might be the stretching, but is there a hint of reflection nebula near the bright star in the middle? And just out of curiosity, how did you come up with 7 minute subs for L (and the detail page says for Ha too)?

Thanks folks for the comments.

I think a general theme of the comments was on the richness of the starfield (and bright stars). There was some star bloat as well due to the stretch.... I think the stretch along with some strong saturation tended to bring out the characteristics of the field of view. I was happy that the data supported the agressiveness of the processing - given the short exposure.
