Star Fields and Clusters

Here are some star cluster test shots as I was taming tube flexure on my G11 dual mounting. Nothing special- I had the data so I processed it.

One is the Globular NGC 5897 in Libra and the M24 region in Sagittarius. Images are here:

In general, I worked out the flexure issues. I had to brace the C8 on it's rail and my adjustable mount for my Megrez II had some slop that needed tightening. I have an adjustment mechanism that allows about a 6 degree adjustment on the Megrez II so I can center guide stars (or image if I am guiding with the C8).

Images are made with my Artemis285. The Globular was a combination of 1x1 bin and 2x2 bin on the Luminance.

very good results, Jim.

I know what you`re talking about...felxion. I had to work a similar problem.

it obviously works now.

the starfield looks very cool!

clear skies, guys!

Looks good Jim,I too like the M24/starfield image, nice star colors.

So,how do you like your G-11 so far?Did you get the Gemini?
I have been thinking about adding the goto to my G-11 and wonder what your thoughts on the Gemini are grin

Thanks for the comments folks...

Jason, Yes I did get Gemini with the G11. I don't know what it would be like to use a G11 with it - simpler I guess.

Personally, I really like the Gemini. I know some would say it is complicated and non-intuitive. I like the ability to configure the mount just the way I want it (limits, speeds, etc.). I also take the time to build a 6 to 8 star model - I have found that I can land a target on my CCD (doing a 30 minute field) pretty reliably. Doing the model at the start of the session really only takes me about 10 minutes.

Looking good, Jim! Flexure's a bummer.
