IC Capture help

Hi all,

I just recieved my DMK 21AF04 camera from The Imaging Source. I've been fooling around with it and can see it will take me a little while to get used to IC Capture 2.0(I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to software :S ).
I tried saving a test avi with the Y800 codec that Chris Go suggested but neither Registax or Virtualdub will accept it. Can anyone tell me the best way to capture and process with this software, or direct me to a good Imaging for Dummies book. smile Also can I just use K3CCD Tools if I'm going to use 15fps or less? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ed Roach

Hello Ed,

Once you install the DMK driver, Virtualdub should be able to pick up the file. Another thing that you can do is to use RGB codec or IYUV codec. Either one should work well for you. Lastly are you using the LATEST version of Virtualdub? I tested this in Tomio's laptop (non-firewire) and it picks up Y800 without a problem.

In my case, I am able to process y800 using Registax after installing the Unibrain Fire-i driver. I still can't figure out how this happens but it may be because Registax supports only VFW.

I prefer to use IC Capture over K3. This is because of it's ability to keep it's property tabs active while you are recording. This is especially true when you are doing RGB and you have to modify gain, fps and exposure time when you change channels. In K3, you have to go through all the menus.

Chris
