Question on multiple alignment

Hello everyone grin

always more frequently I happen to read in many of your posts of "multiple alignment points".

Now, how does one go about processing with multiple alignement points In Registax 3?

Do I have to process the file several times (as many as the alignment points) and then stack the different resulting files?

If it is so, Should I process the different files resulting from the different alignment points before or after stacking them?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ciao
Luca

Hi Luca,

yes, you can do multiple alignment processing in Registax but it's a manual approach. Simply process the source material several times and use different key features in the image as an alignment point. Make sure you apply exactly the same processing parameters for every run.
I use Photoshop to combine the results: Paste the resulting images to individual layers and align the layers (~300% upsampling makes aligning easier). Then I apply a layer mask for all the different regions I want to have in the final image (the areas around the alignment points) with a littler "feather". As Paolo already said this is very time consuming but quite effective, especially for captures from suboptimal seeing conditions.
Has IRIS features to automate multiple alignment a bit ? This would be quite nice smile

Best regards & clear skies,
Oliver
