Hi all,
It's been a while but at last I have something to post. This mosaic is from 12-Aug-09 02:35-03:25UT and comprises 7 sections so it's a bit of a monster. I think I've spent more time on this than I can remember spending on almost any other image! There were a lot of ringing artifacts to deal with in the shadows, after a while even the slightest sign of ringing seemed to stand out like a sore thumb! The seeing was fairly good but a little inconsistent so the resolution varies a bit between the sections.

http://www.pbase.com/slammel/image/121779991/original 60%, down lit, west up
http://www.pbase.com/slammel/image/121780341/original 90%, south up
Apart from the down lighting which I always think works well visually along the central regions (maybe not so much towards the poles) there's something about reducing the size and condensing the detail in the smallest version that seems to look more 'realistic' somehow, at least to my eyes.
10in f4.8 Newtonian, Infinity 2-1M, 5x Powermate, green filter, 150/3000 frames per image, 7 image mosaic processed with Avistack, Registax v.5, PSE5, Focus Magic
Regards,
Stefan
