Using a Celestron Neximage webcam with a Mac

Hello:
I would like to try to use a Celestron Neximage webcam-like imager with my mac laptop. I've downloaded Keith's Astroimager and another application called macam, but so far no joy. Macam notices that I have a camera plugged in, but I just get a black screen. Keith's Astroimager doesn't seem to notice the camera at all. So, my question is: has anyone successfully used this (or other similar) webcam with thier mac, and if so, what did you do to get it to work? One solution, of course, it to just install a windows emmulator on my mac, but I'd like to avoid such drastic actions as much as possible.

Cheers

I can't help you with any direct experience, Michael, but you might be able to find your answer here:

I hope this helps,

Hello Mike -

All of the images I have posted to this forum over the past year have been taken with a Mac laptop, a firewire webcam (DMK21BF04) and the software Astro IIDC.

This program is excellent for capture and the beta version under development has features that are not available in Keith's and perhaps not in Registax either. The only drawback is that you will need a firewire camera to use it - but if you get hooked on planetary imaging you will want one before very long.

This article from S&T shows a recent image and has the link to Astro IIDC as well:
