Why you should cool down your telescope

I usually take my C5 out a few hours before trying to photograph Mars, but I forgot to do that Wednesday night. The attached photo shows the results: for the first hour I consistently had bad seeing, but later on it improved. Images were taken every couple of minutes and processed the same in Registrax. (Please ignore the color balence; I'm still working on that part).

That's a real eye opener. I have a 5i and never thought tube cooling was much of an issue in smaller scopes. By the way, great pics.
