Hello everyone,
I am in the beginning stages of finding a nice digital camera. I would like to spend $1000 or less. Is it possible to find a happy medium for a camera suited for both recreation and astrophotography? If so any information would be great.

Clear skies,
Jay

The Canon Digital Rebel would seem to fit the bill. It is a 6.3MP digital SLR and has a whole range of lenses available that will cover any type of photography. I'm not sure what current prices are but they used to be $899 for the body only or $999 for the kit. The kit includes the body, 18-55 lens, battery and charger, software and a few other items.
If you want to spend a little more than you mentioned then there is the Canon 10D and the Nikon D70 both of which are SLR's too.
I'm not really aware of any non-SLR type cameras that really excel in astro work like these that I've mentioned.

Hope this helps some.
