I am considering buying a digital camera for the purpose of doing some astrophotography with my Tak FS-102. What is currently the preferred choice of digital cameras in the neighborhood of $750.00 or so?

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.

For about $500-$600 I would definitely go for the Nikon Coolpix 995 or 4500 (which is the newer model)... it seems to be the "Favorite one" in that price range... (no need to spend more unless going into the $1500-$2500 range for a D60)

My .02 cents well spent...

Hi,

for appr. $900 you could get the Minolta Dimage 7i. It has a darkframe subtraction to minimize noise in long exposures and a excellent lens.
