More macro...a bee

Like Ty, I had my 200mm macro out this weekend, but without the TC. This is a native resolution shot of a small bee--about 12mm long. Note the individual pollen grains on the bee. One other thing. I had accidentally left the ISO at 1000 when taking this series of macro shots. The benefit was that I was able to shoot at f/22 to get good DOF, with a bit more grain. What really surpised me is how clean this image was at ISO 1000. My D100 is much noisier at 1000 than the D2H, and this grains looks very natural and "film-like."

Incredible shot Jeff! I agree, that the grain is not a problem.... amazing at ISO 1000. I may need to look into this camera.

I just couldn't believe they (Nikon) came out with the new camera (D2H) that was lower resolution than the D100. I would have bought it in a minute if it was 8 MP, but I have hesitated becuse of the lower res. I don't really think it is an issue for most work, but I would still like it better if it were higher resolution. I think the higher speed and better flash speed would be very nice to have.... Hmmmmmm, a tough decision. I will be interested to get your thoughts on the camera as time goes on. Perhaps the resolution difference is inconsequential. Your photos certainly look perfect!

Cheers,
Tyler
