Wasp Nest

This football-sized wasp nest is in my neighbor's blue spruce tree.

Definitely steer clear of that one. shocked

Hi Jim. I believe that nest belongs to the Bald Faced, or "White Faced" Hornet. They never pay any attention to people at all. Basically they only want to work. However if you should accidently run into the nest, or perhaps hit it with a golf ball, they are exceptionally aggressive. They can sting multiple times, and the sting is brutally painful. The nests they build are quite beautiful, and engineering marvels. They will die over winter. Best Regards...Tom.
