This view of the Kickapoo River Valley is from the top of Mt. Pisgah, in Wildcat Mountain State Park near Ontario, Wisconsin.
The area is called the 'driftless' region, as it was untouched by the glaciers that scoured the north and east part of the state. The word 'Kickapoo' is supposedly from the Algonquian language and means something like 'first it goes here, then there'. It's fondly known as the world's most crookedest river. Having canoed it many times, I can attest.

Sweet the coming on
Of grateful evening mild; then silent night
With this her solemn bird and this fair moon,
And these the gems of heaven, her starry train.
