Nursing Elk

This is not a great photograph...too grainy etc. because of distance and low light, but the subject is fascinating. I could not believe how big this still-nursing calf elk has become in a few short months. I guess he is trying to squeeze in a few extra calories before the snow flies. grin

Momma sure looks patient.

Jim, not knowing much about how to tell a large calf from an adult, I would've most definitely thought something perverted (in an elk way, that is) was going on there . . . :S
