The kindness of strangers

There are many trails on a big bluff near my home. Bordering the trails are occasional natural stone basins. Some kind person has put out these jugs. I have never found one empty, even on the hottest of summer days.

A dog is grateful for the water it receives.

In a perfect world, that would be a nice gesture. However, I would never allow my dog to drink water from an unknown source, left by a stranger. I value my dog enough to carry water for him when needed. That's probably the reason you never find that water jug empty.
