Just curious: It's obvious that the designations CNC and LW refer to different focal lengths, but what do these letters stand for?

Actually, they stand for the tube design. CNC is one style (having a brain fart...it stands for Computer Numerical something or other) and the LW is for the Lightweight tube.
The CNC version is beautiful, but pretty heavy, while the LW is much lighter, and comes with the Feathertouch focuser. The 100/800 CNC model that I once owned weighed around 16 pounds, as I recall.

Take a look at this TMB CNC 115 after looking at Ron's previous photo's to see the differance which is in my opinion significant. The CNC stands for the type of manufacturing process used to make the optical tube and focuser.
