Telescope safety in a Dome

After much comparative observing I plan to keep a MakNewt and an AP refractor mounted side by side in a simple Exploradome. Last year I noted that the dome absolutely kept snow and rain out, but I am concerned about dew. Beyond keeping the telescopes capped and having dessicators in the focussers, what measures would be advisable? I can have zip-up canvas bags made by a local seamstress to fit around each 'scope. I am reluctant to keep a bulb burning or such thing, as I have a (perhaps irrational) fear of unattended electrical items being kept on 24/7.

If David from Clinton CT reads this, please contact me on AMart. My email has crashed.

Thanks

Robert

Robert,
You might want to put some large bath towels over the scopes or their canvas bags. Then when you use the scope or when they get damp just throw them in the dryer. Also, marine supply stores used to sell moisture absorbing canisters for boat cabins. They help to keep mold away due to excess moisture. I believe they were called Damp-Away or some such thing.

dew won't really be a problem inside a dome. The only time I had any dew formed on my scopes in over 5 years in my observatory building was one day in spring. The temperature inside the building was colder than outside and the humidity was 100% after 3 days of steady rain. Everything inside was damp, but again the lenses were free of condensation because I keep them covered.
