I'm thinking about purchasing a C14. Is it realistic for one person (me) to lift this babe from storage to mount without slipping a disk? I'm not a body builder.

Input is appreciated!!

Hi David; here's a cute couple of YouTube links that you might find useful regarding manhandling a C14:

David....I have a C-14 and the old fork mount. I am 5'8" and weigh 150# ...I can mount it on the fork asm...not impossible(ha,ha) and is douable but not super easy. I also have tried mounting it on a G11 and it's not as bad because you don't have to lift as high. Gerry

David, I did it for a couple of years. First with the forks (big pain but doable) and then on a GEM (much better but not trivial). I found myself only taking it to dark sky sites when conditions were excellent. I sold it, primarily due to weather here in New England being marginal most of the time and dew being difficult to deal with. Now my TEC 140 seems easy. If you can easily lift 65 lbs over your head several times, you'll probably be OK. If you struggle with a barbell of that weight, you should reconsider your plans.

It's possible. Get on Youtube and have a look at Greg Nowell's C14 videos.
