Anybody know what is the best way to make a due
sheild for the old orange C8's?

Thanks,

I used the foam rubber that you purchase at a sporting goods store that you use to put under your sleeping bag. You can use it just as it comes, usually in a blue color. You can also sew a cover of black material with flocking ablilites like I did if you wat to go to the trouble. I made mine with a velcro closure so I could lay it flat and used a steel ring from a tomato cage to hold the opening to a perfect circle when it is in use.

You can make a dew shield from any thin foam, flexible cardboard, or whatever. (Last month I made a dew shield from two pieces of 8x11 paper, taped together, and then taped around the front of the scope.--it worked fine, but after six hours got soppy.)

My favorite material is a thin vinyl coated foam (about 1/8 inch thick). It is used in automotive upholstery shops to line doors. (It is abailable in auto upholstery supply stores.) I used a strip of Velcro to fasten it to itself in a big roll. And then, it slops over the front of the scope. It rolls into a very smooth tube when not in use.
