ETX90 Maintenance

I recently purchased Meade ETX90 from a colleague who works across the country. The scope did arrive in one piece, however, the Duracell batteries left installed in it had corroded over time [yes, Duracell can corrode, too!]. The scope functions fine under 12DC power. I am interested in cleaning up the contacts as best as possible, to prevent the spread of corrosion to the critical electronic components. I can do some of this by cleaning the exposed part of the battery contacts. I would like to disassemble the base & clean the opposite side of the contacts as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone with any experience disassembling an ETX90?

Thanks,
Dan
