UFOs Do Not Exist… But Unexplained Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) are a Different Matter Altogether

An extraordinary 57 percent of all Americans believe Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) are real. Many of these people are convinced that the US Government (and particularly the CIA) is engaged in a massive conspiracy and cover-up of the issue. According to the CIA, the UFO issue probably will not go away any time soon, no matter what the US Government does or says. The belief that we are not alone in the universe is too emotionally appealing and the distrust of governments around the world is too pervasive to make the issue amenable to traditional scientific studies of rational explanation and evidence. But now, in an ironic twist of fate, UFO sightings have become so commonplace by Navy pilots patrolling coastal waters, that the US Navy has updated its guidelines for reporting these newly dubbed Unexplained Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). By formalizing the process, the US Navy has reduced the stigma for pilots who witness this unusual activity.

Comments:

I'd like to see one of those things try doing the jig-a-bob over Israeli skies. It'd probably end up with a python 5 missile up its kazoo...

Anyone notice how fuzzy these "mysterious" videos are...always? I mean...always!? Is it impossible a group of Navy fliers and their ground support crews are having a wee bit o'fun with us? Is the ONLY explanation that of alien beings engaging in crop reconnaissance before selecting some of us for prime hors d'oeuvres? Always start with the prosaic, if your primary interest is in nailing the reality of a situation, kids...it rarely disappoints.

Hello Earthlings...! All Your Bases Are Belong to US!!

Seth Shostak Is this generation’s Donald Menzel. He knows his gravy train ends with disclosure so what else is he going to say? He’s just a blow hard in the Phil Klass mode who’s paid by the government to deny, deflect, debunk, at all cost.
Proof is just a matter of security clearance and very few people have that. If the Freedom of Information Act wasn’t so toothless, you’d have all the proof you need.

To suggest that these UAP’s are of Soviet or Chinese origin is laughable. Both countries would crow endlessly about their technology break throughs, proudly displaying their hardware at every May Day parade.

“But 90 percent of these sightings turn out to be a laundry list of things like birds, balloons, or other aircraft.”

First of all, I don’t particularly want aliens to be here - it’s simply too dangerous. On the other hand, there aren’t too many birds, balloons, or even aircraft that travel at hypersonic speeds. Given that these visitors exist, I wonder what they think of us?

Too many credible people with military and CIA backgrounds have blown a whistle about this subject to just dismiss the possibility that UFOs are real.
