UK Scientists Believe That Life is Continuously Entering Earth's Atmosphere From Space
By using a balloon that was sent up into the stratosphere, scientists from the University of Sheffield in the UK believe they have found microscopic alien life forms that have arrived to Earth from space. If this is true, and life does continuously enter from space, then we will have to completely change our views of biology and evolution. The group's findings have been published in the Journal of Cosmology. The team hopes to extend and confirm its results by carrying out the test again in October 2013 to coincide with the upcoming Haley's Comet-associated meteorite shower, when there will be large amounts of cosmic dust entering the atmosphere from space.

I'll say! Occam's razor ain't in it. Talk about bad science--I love that note about waiting for the next meteor shower to "confirm" their results. Maybe they should send a balloon up when there's no meteor shower, don't you think? A visit to the "journal of cosmology" doesn't exactly inspire confidence either (http://journalofcosmology.com/).

-george
Great article Guy. Please follow up on this after the isotope tests.
A few problems with their claim...

1. They found a diatom of obviously terrestrial origin, so earthly stuff DOES get up there.

2. They have a rather small sample size. Statistically, their claim is shaky.

3. The lunar regolith has been "up there" undisturbed, collecting whatever particles rained down on it for billions of years. If it was so easy to collect extraterrestrial biological material with a tiny surface area and a sampling exposure of just a few seconds the regolith should be covered in it. The only snag for these guys is the samples from Apollo missions show no such thing.

The claim belongs firmly with von Daniken's "Chariots of the Gods".
