Featuring: Lectures by noted experts in a variety of astronomy topics Hands-on observing sessions guided by UACNJ Observers using UACNJ equipment or your own Demonstrations of solar and radio telescopes Meteorite display Geologist-guided walk exploring the terrain of Jenny Jump State Forest Tours of UACNJ facilities Swap table: Saturday noon-3 PM and 5-8 PM Sunday noon-5 PM Telescope display Saturday and Sunday 12:30-4:00 PM Food will be available for purchase at the UACNJ facility in Jenny Jump State Forest from 11 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday Star parties, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, weather permitting. All observing is subject to weather conditions. Indoor events will take place rain or shine.
The 2008 Stellafane Convention will be held Thursday, July 31 through Sunday, August 3. A gathering of Amatuer Telescope Makers and telescope making competition . The Stellafane site is a National Historic Landmark. It features speakers,lectures,workshops,hands on mirror grinding and activities for all ages and levels. A gathering of amateur telescope makers, featuring guest speakers, technical talks, hands on demonstrations,swap tables ,raffles,and observing on the historical Stellafane site.The clubs founder Russell Porter was involved in the team that helped to create the 200" scope at Palomar. Also the club has a museum of ATM curios and scopes.The Stellafane Convention is the great Grandaddy of Star Party's in the scenic Hills of VT.
The Rose City Astronomers are pleased to invite you to attend the 60th annual Astronomical League Convention and Exposition in Portland, Oregon - the "City of Roses" - on August 3rd and 4th, 2007. Co-sponsored by the Portland State University Physics Department. Featuring an international line up of speakers.
The CAA's OTAA Convention is set to take place July 14 at our Observatory site. In addition to the usual socializing and observing the convention will offer a unique learing opportunity. Mike Unsold will present a hands-on workshop on the use of his ImagesPlus software. The workshop will begin at 12 noon and end at 4 pm. The regular convention will begin at 5 pm.
