Mid South Stargaze

Planetarium Show: Our astronomers will put on a special live program once a month utilizing the planetarium’s state of the art Zeiss ZKP3 star projector to find the stars, constellations, and planets. You can also get the scoop on the latest astronomy and space science news! Recommended for adults and children ages 6 and up (30 minutes). Tickets: $3 adults, $2 kids.

The Louisville Astronomical Society presents the first annual Kentuckiana Star Gaze and Messier Marathon Party at scenic Taylorsville Lake State Park. RV and tent camping available at the observing site for a small fee, along with boating and hiking. Restrooms and shower facilities available. Saturday activities include speakers and door prize drawings. Please join the LAS for this inaugural event.

A family oriented star party held in semi-dark skys. Camping is available with restrooms and showers. The public is invited. Mike O'connor will give a presentation Saturday afternoon on CCD imaging and astrophotography.

Escondido Ranch, McMullen County, Texas. Hosted by the Kingsville Astronomical Society, Kingsville Texas. Held under dark 7.1-7.5 magnitude skies deep south Texas (28 degrees N Latitude). Air conditioned/heated bunkrooms w/showers, full hookup RV sites, and tent camping. Speakers and door prizes.

The CHIEFLAND FALL STAR PARTY is open to non-members. It is a full blown week-long dark sky observing event for serious observers and astrophotographers only. EVERYONE, INCLUDING CLUB MEMBERS, MUST PRE-REGISTER TO ATTEND, NO EXCEPTIONS! Registrations must be postmarked by Oct. 1. All others will be returned. Registrations are not refundable but are transferable. Registration for the event is a flat $40 per person, $20 for Spouses or Children over the age of 15yrs. Registration is for either the entire week or just one night *****Due to the star party becoming too large and overtaxing our facilities, there will be no on-site registration and no walk-in registration. Sorry, if you are not preregistered you may not attend and will be turned away at the gate.*****
