Sorry for the repost as I deleted the earlier message by accident.

Can anyone give me any background on the C8+? I have a neighbor who I have spoken to about purchasing his C8+ optical tube. He bought the complete C8+ setup in late 1993 and he mentioned that the optical tube and optics are the same as those used on the Ultima line back in 93 and later. I haven't tested it yet but does anyone have any feedback to the veracity of this statement or experience with the optics on this model? I've searched the net for info but to no avail. Thanks for any feedback. Ted, thanks for the feedback on the buyers guide I looked at this recently but he did not have much info on the scope. Todd Gross has a mini review of a 1994 C8+ (favorable) on his website.

Tom, I used to have an early 1990's C8 OTA, and the optics were great on it...

As a side note, my OTA was NOT Fastar compatible, so I'm not sure if this will be something you'll want ot do or not, but if you do astrophotography or you are going to do it sometime in the future, might want to make sure it is compatible with it.

Clear skies!

I had a C8+ a few years ago. As I recall, it was just a regular C8 OTA on a heavy-duty tripod -- the type with adjustable legs and better wedge than the standard C8's "wedgepod". I also think (but someone may correct me) that the optics of the Ultima 8 were the same as the C8 and C8+, the diffrence again being in the mount and accessories.
