Hello, I want some ideas to make a dew cap for my Meade lxd-55 8’ SN telescope. Any ideas and advices out there on a home made dew cap?, What materials can I use?.

Thanks, and clear skies

Ricardo R. Amador.

I'm thinking you actually meant to post that you want to make a dew shield ... as the scope already comes with a cap / cover for the corrector.

Here's one I saw on the LXD55Telescopes Yahoo group. It's made from 1/4" toolbox foam from Sears.

I hate to say these "caps" are a waste of time & material.. but unless your viewing time is brief you are only postponing the inevitable.. to keep moisture off your objective lens the best way is to introduce a slight amount of "heat" with a dew system heater strap. Kendrick makes all different sizes & lenghts.. Good luck, John M
