Kendrick Obs tent?

Anyone use the Kendrick Observing Tent? Not just the little square one, but the one that actually looks like a tent and the top zips off? I almost bought one a while ago, and then held off. Would you recommend something other than that for say camping? I have a pop-up camper available for most camping, so would I be better off having the other type?

What else would be nice to take so that I could setup my scope and it'd be ok during the day? Just a cover?

Anthony,
When I first started going to star parties I would stay in a tent and have my scope out and cover it with a dessert storm cover. I saw one of the Kendrick observing tents, and then while at the WSP2001 I made up my mind to buy one for myself.

I will NEVER go to another star party without it
personally I have alot of crap that I have when I observe and now take CCD images. You do not have to take in your ocular, charts, or anything. When you are done observing for the evening just zip up and go to bed

However I do not sleep in my Kendrick (Like I said I carry alot of crap). I use another tent for that. My friend that I observe with however has been using his for both and now will be getting another tent to sleep in. Just makes things easier when you are out in the field for a week or so.

The tents hold up under heavy rain and wind, though I do not know about snow. Last year we were at a Star Party and there were severe thunderstorm warnings with tornado warnings out. That night the winds gusted to about 50mph and the Kendricks held up without any stress

Also what size scope you have for one?
As you can see they can hold larger scopes on GEM mounts.

I would suggest one.

Mark

I've also been very happy with mine. Like Mark, I
usually set up a table in the "camping" section
and keep my eyepieces, junk, etc. in there.
I've used it with an MN-76 + extended dewcap, and
its fine but starts to get a bit tight in some positions
due to 5' long OTA. SCTs or Cass scopes shouldn't
have any problems, though.
