Thanks,

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Hello Robert!

Yes, the previous model to the LX200-GPS SMT was the "regular" LX200-GPS (which I own).

The SMT has the advantage of higher GOTO accuracy due to a 40 star aligment process which in the end gives you much better GOTOs than a 2 Star alignment... (original LX200s & LX200GPS)(note that the original scope's GOTOs are very good already).

The nice feature is that you are able to save these settings for different configurations, lets say for when your scope is loaded with equipment for Astrophotography, and when your scope is simply configured for visual use, without load...

The only thing to be aware of is that if you move your SMT scope, you'll have to re-run the process if you want thos "ultra-accurate" GOTOs again, since by moving your scope you've lost the alignment...

Hope this helps,
