Mike, your scope "should" ask for what kind of alignment you want, 1 star, 2 star, easy... after you make your choice it should do its GPS positioning routine (normally 4-5 stars for me, but it could take longer).
I normally choose 2 star alignment, and yes, the stars won't be centered this time (YOU are supposed to center them in your eyepiece) and press ENTER after each one.

Once done with this you should be able to find anything out there...

Are you in Alt-Az or Polar mode? might want to check for this, to make sure all is correct in the Setup area of the AutostarII controller.
Also check for Daytime saving, type of scope and all variables in the Autostar II controller, to make sure nothing has been set up wrong.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM... (I have a 10" LX-200GPS) 8)
