Meade LXD-75 tripod

I'm considering purchasing this mount for my 80mm refractor. After reading reviews, most of which were a couple years old, I'm concerned about stability of the tripod.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who bought one within the last year as to their feelings on the subject. At this time I don't plan on doing any imaging, but would like to have that option open for the future.

Hi Fred, I guess you've noticed that the Meade LXD75 is'nt really popular with the folks here. I also was upset for a while but they actually done good by me and replaced the mount and gave me another autostar to boot. They even put all the new updates into it for me.

I am now having a blast with my LXD75 mount and tripod, everything is centered in the eyepiece on every object I go to. As far as stability, mine is as solid as a rock. I am a happy camper with this mount and tripod. I don't have any problems at all with slop or vibrations. I hope this helped, I've noticed that people have some kind of problem with about any kind of set-up they own. But since I have had my replacement I have not had a single problem, knock on wood.

I have an lxd75 right now. I have several scopes that I mount on it. It currently has 2 80MM refractors on it. I often mount my 8" newtonian on it, with one of the refractors. If the mount is balanced, you will not have an issue.

I think it is a good mount to start with. I will be trying some astrophotography with my DSLR soon.

I've never had any issues, and the objects are always within the center portion of the eyepiece.
