Mirror refigure

I've got an 8" f/6 dob that I'm very fond of, and would like to have the optics refigured to get the best possible performance out of it. Not many of the websites I've visited seem to indicate pricing for an 8" refigure.
Question #1: Does anyone know of an optician who will work with this size scope?
Question #2: Who would you recommend, or allow to work on your optics?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

HI Larry,

Check out Alan Raycraft's info near the bottem of my webpage. He used to do smaller mirrors for Starsplitter years ago IIRC.

Royce offers these mirrors at this price. Great mirror, but not cheap.

I will offer a cautionary note from experience.
I once paid for a nice high-end refigure job to
~1/10 wave PTV wavefront. The glass warped or
"sprang" when they heated it for coating, and I got a
6/10 wave PTV mirror back from the coater. Neither the
fault of the re-figuring person nor the coater,
but the result of poor annealing when the blank was made
~30 years ago. Lots of money spent and nothing to
show for it.

Probably my experience is rare, but it makes the price
difference between "new" and "re-figure" seem unimportant.
Unless you are very certain the glass was annealed
properly, I would suggest to just buy a new coated mirror.
