Powermate, Pentax XW EPs, Paracorr

Hi all - two quickies...

1. I'm probably gonna buy a 2" TV Powermate (likely a 2x) - are there any issues to be aware of when using it with Pentax XW EPs from 3.5mm up to 20mm?

2. Assume a 14.5" f/4.3 reflector - at what magnification would you generally say one can stop using a Paracorr and just go with an EP (or a Powermate+EP) in the focuser, and not see any appreciable distortion in the FOV? I know the answer for some would be "don't use a Paracorr at all", but I've chosen to use one with this scope. I'm just curious to hear where along the increasing magnification curve folks have decided that a Paracorr no longer offers any benefit.

Thanks!
Doug

Hi Doug,
I find 14mm and below seems to be OK without a Paracorr. The is the 14mm UWA and shorter and it is 84° FOV. I would think that a narrower FOV EP would be fine even at 17mm.

Doug, I pretty much leave my Paracorr in all the time,
unless I'm doing some serious high power observing.
I would agree though, with Floyd's evaluation.
Basically, I'm just too lazy to take it off wink ,
unless I feel it's getting in the way of something.
I believe we're using the same scope, as is Floyd.
