Hello, I recently bought 8 radio shack rechargeable batteries for my incoming lxd-55 telescope. But it says each one is 1.2v, and the total of the 8 batteries only goes up to 9.6 instead the 12v normal akaline batteries go up to. My question is: Is some one else using rechargeable batteries on their lxd-55 mount?, how does this affect the go-to performance?

thanks a clear skies

Not a good idea to use rechargeables...even with fresh alkalines the performance is marginal, especially when below freezing. Sooner or later you will chuck the 'D' cell battery pack and buy a 12VDC auto jump-start battery and wonder why you didn't do it long ago. It can also start your car!
