replacing cross hairs

i have a 50mm finder scope on a cave 10" f/6 tube assembly. the cross hairs in the finder scope are broken. the old broken ones are very fine cooper wire. i have tried to super glue but the wires will not hold to the retainer ring. . has any one out there in astro. land had to replace theres in the past? any help will be appreciated.

Refers to spider web x-hairs, but I have used similar technique with very fine copper wire and hair.

I made a V shaped spring loaded stretcher for the fine wire which I get from pulling single strands from a multi strand wire. The stretcher allows me to lay the strand across the ring and I apply a small amount of weight to get the crosshair strand tight then I apply the glue. When the first one is dry repeat for the other crosshair. The crosshairs may be a little wider than the origional but that makes them easier to see at night.
