Truss Dobs

Hi, Any recommendations for hand built truss dobs made in the US? I know Obsession, but any more similar manufacturers in the 12"-15" area with reasonable delivery times? I am not considering Orion or Meade at the moment.

Starmaster and Obsession are certainly well known.

There's also AstroSystems. They sell components, kits, and fully-assembled scopes.

jpastrocraft.com sweet sixteen. 16 inch f/4. Integral wheels, seated observing even at zenith, top quality components. Wessling or Lockwood mirror

Starmaster 14 inch f/4 or 16.5 inch f/3.7 Zambuto or Lockwood mirror. Seated observing in all positions.

This may be unnecessary since no one has mentioned the name. But, T Scopes owned by Ed Taychert, appears to keep taking orders and has had really serious problems with delivery.

There have been a number of law suits. (Yes, I lost some money, probably less than many others.) It's too bad, because his design is significantly lighter than others.

If you want to go used, there was a company called "Night Sky" that made an extremely solid scope, quality right up there with Obsession or Starmaster. There are some homebuild scopes that are right up there in quality as well. Just look for high quality optics. In todays economy, you can save 40% easily by going used.
