A new line of orthos from University Optics is now available. This is said to be a supplement, and not a replacement of the old series. The new eyepeices are given the designation High Definition (HD) and they cost about 20$ more than the old ones.

Have anyone tried the new line? How do they compare to the old orthos?

There is a short thread in the eyepiece section. I think that his assessment was marginally better (probably simply premium coatings, but not worth even thinking about replacing a classic set.

Hi,

Though I haven't tried them for myself, some folks I know said they really didn't see any kind of difference worth mentioning.

I have tried the new HD 9mm and in comparison to the older style ortho cannot distinguish any difference. I know this is not a direct comparison but when compared with a Tak LE-7.5mm, I found the Tak more comfortable to use and perhaps a slight bit sharper as well. The orthos are still a great deal and I think at this point if I were to buy any more I'd save the extra $20 and buy the "classic" style.
