I think I'll take the plunge and get my first filter. Seems like a UHC would be a good one to start with. Any opinions on where to buy and why?

Try looking for a used Lumicon UHC, or go with the Orion Ultrablock. There are others out there, but these are the two most recognizable.

Bill,
I just purchased the Orion ultra-block and don't really care for it. It turns everything a little greenish. However, this may be the case with Lumicon and others also.
