Hello,
After doing a lot of research, I've come to the conclusion that the Sirius 3.5m Observatory will meet my needs. It is made in Australia and well built with robotic options.
They will also certify it for my wind code here in Florida for $750. It must be able to withstand a 3-4 second 140mph gust of wind. Anyone out there have one of these?
Thanks Mike

I will be picking up my 2.3M later this week. I saw the 3.5M at NEAF. Yes, the lower portion of the hatch cover is hinged. The dome appears to be well built. Support for Sirius appears to be good. Note that robotic options are not cheap for any of the dome manufacturers. Good luck on your choice.

I now have mine all installed. Make sure you get a copy of the Sirius CD as the assembly manual is not very good without seeing the video on the CD.

I just completed assembly of the School Model. The assembly was surprisingly simple. My dome is manually operated, but the mechanism is hydraulic. Very smooth. I think anyone who has this dome has to be very happy with the quality. You were smart to have the specs checked out ahead of time. The only problem I had was that the specs were stamped with the California state stamp and I could not get the town to approve the dome until I got a local engineer to certify the specs! I already had the dome parts, but had to wait a month until I could put it up. No matter, worse things could have happened. I think this is an excellent product, worth the additional expense.
