Hi All,

I've been adding to my Horsehead image this last week, trying to outrun
it before it slips into the sunset and trying to get that final shot. Here are results I was able to
get with my 6" refractor (which by the way illustrates the tremendous
veratility of this type of telescope):

shot taken with a 0.9 meter telescope on Kitt Peak:

Not bad, Roland.
You've got that delicate dust structure in the Flame that one doesn't usually see, the tiny natural stars, and that star in the Horse's mane that often gets lost somehow.
That TCC turns the 155 into a real race horse-it beat this Horse Head.
My regards,

dan

I stacked another image from my friend in France with mine. He has the same scope as I do. This increased the signal to noise and allowed me to really stretch the low brightness areas to bring out very faint detail. The equivalent exposure is approximately 9 hours of H-alpha.

Wonderful image, Roland! A beauty and a keeper! I missed my shot at the horsey this season. I guess it'll have to wait 'til fall at the earliest for me.
