Cat's Eye

I had some hazy conditions Friday night but the seeing was great so I turned my attention to the small and bright. Here's the Cat's Eye at 3600mm focal length. At 20 arcseconds in diameter this puppy makes M57 look huge. The sun was not to far below the eastern horizon and everything was dripping with dew but I did manage to get some color data.

Intes MN65 @ F22 (4x powermate)
AP1200GTO
Atik 16 HR w/ manual filter wheel
LRGB minutes (10:3:3:5)

Enjoy,

David

That's a good image for such a short exposure, David, and the color looks to be right on.
If you're up for a real challenge, this nebula has a dim, crazy outer nebulosity that's rarely imaged.
Stan Moore has a fine shot of it on his site:

I tried for it last year but I ran out of time before I got an acceptable image.

Man! 8O
What, do we need 8000mm f/l to get a decent size image? LOL!

Great shot David, nice catch! (small, but nice!) wink

David,

Wow! You got some nice detail there! And good color for such a short total exposure time!
