Or, otherwise known as Sharpless 171....

Hi Folks,
This is an image of Cederblad 214. Image and exposure / processing details are at:

(be sure to click on the image for a full size view)

The Scope was my Megrez 80 mm APO at f/4.3 (with a Paul Rini reducer), Camera was my Artemis285.

An earlier version of this object (ToUcam Mosaic) taken in 2004 is here:

Very nice, Jim! I do see some star elongation to the sides. Is this an artifact of the optics?

Very nice, Jim. That's a good field of view for this object.
Perhaps the distortion that Eric saw means that you have to tweak your focal reducer distance?
I'm glad to see that someone is getting clear skies.
My regards,

dan

Thanks all for your comments...

Ivan, I'm OK with the Rini. I works kinda nice with the refractor for center sharpness, but... See below...

Eric, Dan, Yes, the edge star shape distortion is the reducer, So I'm not sure the optimal distance on the reducer (not even sure I remember where I got it). It's a short focal length reducer. Focus is dodgy in a not so flat field. Seems like it's got a small imaging area - the good news is that my CCD is small.

This is a 0.62x reduction. Maybe I should try that 0.67x AP reducer?
