I finally got a clear night to try out some new equipment.
A full-sized image and details can be found here:
http://www.photonhunter.com/nebulae/IC1318,AP130.html
It's 3 hours of 6nm Ha with an ST2000XM on a 5" refractor looking at the central portion of the Butterfly Nebula.
Thanks for looking,

dan kowall

Dan,
Looks like you're having fun with some new equipment. That's a terrific dramatic image. Looks like Cygnus season is in full swing!

Larry

Nice Job Dan!
The notes on your link say you were working through some "birthing" pains on some new equipment. Was taht before or after the image? I can't see much evidence of a problem in the image.

Again, nice job.

Dan,

This is a great image, and I also like the older image.

It appears as if the newer image is not that much deeper than the old, but the old was only just less than 2 hours, and the new is 3 hours.

Was there a difference in focal ratios?

Thanks for sharing!

Keith
