Greetings,
A popular object this time of year is M16. I didn't realize it had been 4 years since I had a camera on it last. Here is a recent image. A full size image and exposure / processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/Eagle.htm
(be sure to click on the image for full size)

Scope - C8 at f/3.3
Camera - Artemis285
Guided Vesta 690 LE and K3CCDTools 3.

The earlier 2003 image was not an Ha based image. It is amazing this object can be done without Ha. This 2003 image can be seen here:

Jim,
Another great image--the detail is just terrific for such a wide field. And the color looks nice and rich and natural as well. Really nice.

PS: I'm curious about your preference for stacking in Registax versus AstroArt...I have only used Reg for planets.

Hi Jim,

I kept going "wow-wow-Wow!" as I downloaded bigger and bigger images. Great work there! It's definitely much sharper than your older version. It's good to see progress, eh? grin

Looks very good Jim.
You have made much improvement in the four years since the earlier version smile

Thanks to all for your kind comments.

Larry,
Good question! I have no good explanation other than habit. What is really interesting is that a while back I was not real happy with the darks I was making in Registax and started making them in Astroart to use in Registax! One thing, Registax allows me to do a sigma cutoff combine where I think Astroart only gives me an average or a median combine.

A very nice image Jim. My only comment is the colour seems a bit salmon. This is from the Ha RGB mix. If you put a bit of your Ha in the green and blue channels you can get a good balance. If you use Photoshop use lighten or overlay mode for the layers. green 5%, blue 20%, red about 50%. It gives more control over the final colour when adding Ha to images.
