Folks,

Can we please try and remain on-topic within this group? During the past few weeks we have had a few threads surrounding equipment and which is most appropriate in other equipment-related groups including TeleVue and refractors.

I remind everyone that the description for this group reads "DEEP SKY IMAGERS have their own unique Imaging and Processing issues - Now they have their own FORUM" and it is both frustrating and tiresome seeing LENGTHY threads which not only do not belong here but have other groups here on Astromart where they are ideally suited.

No, I am not the administrator but an interested reader and participant!

Anthony.

Hi Anthony:

No disrespect intended, but the recent equipment threads seem to be right on topic to me. The discussion of various astrograph varieties was/is very informative and specifically targeted at the suitability of these various telescopes for deep space imaging.

Sorry Anthony, but I agree with the rest of the replies: it is interesting and, in my opinion, not off-topic to discuss equipment related issues, since they clearly fall under the "specific imaging.....issues" that you quote. With your logic, we would also need a forum where to discuss all processing and imaging software issues, but we discuss it here instead.

It would be very difficult and also, I believe, questionably useful to rigidly separate these topics.
However, Ivan's advice is truly wise: if something is of no interest to you, don't read it wink

Anthony, please reconsider, as the signal to noise ratio is still very good around here. Yes, it might deviate a bit sometimes (too much?), but for most part this is still The Forum for CCD Imaging/Processing... 8)

Personally, I don't do any imaging. I'm just here to look at the pictures, not read the articles.

I agree with Louie I enjoy Anthony's images as they are very unique.
Obviously he is upset about this as an issue and I can respect that.

I also enjoy reading about astrograph choices as equipment choice and right combinations and access to others experience is vital in making a nice image.

I am sure Anthony has equipment choices behind him as he has a superb AP160. The question of which gear to use is far less relevant.

Greg.
