I got some exposures in on M63. I have processed them and produced an image. I did get the small irregular galaxy PGC 46093 (toward the right edge of the image). There are two edge on galaxies that can be seen through the periphery halo of M63 on its right side as well as several other galaxies in the lower part of the image. I am unable to identify these other galaxies. Anybody have any ideas?
Image and exposure / processing details are at:

Nice Jim, I would double every thing and see how that works. There is a lot there that would come out I think.

Hi Jim. That really is a nice image. I wish I could help on the other galaxies, but I can't. But, all those little galaxies really add to the image. Nice work on this one.
Cheers,
Tyler

Thanks for the comments folks.

Floyd, I assume by double everything, you mean double the number of subs and subframe exposure time for LRGB? I tend to agree that more exposure data could be useful. Given the arc sec per pixel scale, I may be tempted to get the increase data through in-camera binning.

Fabulous image of what is one of my favorite galaxies.

Greg, Jared, Sam,
Thanks for the comments.

By my calculations, you are at just about 1 arc second per pixel if binned 1x1. What sort of FWHM values were you getting in your raw data before any non-linear stretches were applied? If your seeing is average, you may well be able to bin 2x2 with no significant loss in resolution.
So it looks like my FWHM is about 4. At 1x1 it is a tad under 1 Asec/pixel. Some of the FWHM is due to seeing. But it is the FWHM that leads me to think I can bin 2x2 and not loose much if anything in resolution but gain significantly in S/N

Nice shot Jim, are you using the AP .67 reducer with your SCT?

Sam
I am only using the Celestron 0.63x reducer/corrector. It is my understanding that the AP has no correction feature and that it is best applied on optics that are already reasonably flat and color corrected?
