I took this image last night (1-7-13) can I get some feedback on what is wrong with it? I can't seem to get pinpoiint stars no mater how hard I try to get into focus. I have a C8, with focal reducer (6.3) a Meade zero image focuser and a DSI Pro II mono camera. Please help, I am new to this and learning. sad

Mike,
Looks to be field rotation is elongating the stars.
If your C8 is on a GEM, you need better polar alignment.
If you are fork mounted, you are limited to about 20 seconds in exposure time unless you go to a wedge for your fork mount.

I do not think it is related to focus, but a bahtinov mask would certainly help to fine tune your focus.

It could also be collimation issues. Do you have the CCD spaced about 110mm behind the reducer? Those reducers were designed to use a prime focus camera adapter, T-ring and a 35mm camera. The reducer will really aggravate collimation errors if the spacing is not right. How long was the exposure? If you are not guiding that could be it as well as bad seeing. Try a Bahtinov mask for focusing, they work great.

Just a few possibilities...hope you can get it figured out.
