Went in search of dragonflies last weekend with my new Panasonic ZS6 camera. This was one of the best shots (cropped down a bit to eliminate some of the background clutter). Taken at Lake Conestee Nature Park in Greenville, SC. Quite a lot of interesting flora and fauna there including Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Wood Ducks, Egrets, Green Herons, Red-shouldered hawks, Osprey, White Tail Deer, and many others. It's basically a swamp like environment (lots of frogs too but they are very tough to spot- hear them singing all the time though).

Nice shot, Joplin. Just curious, has anyone ever heard of dragonflies referred to as 'mosquito hawks'? That the name I learned as a child. I used to catch them all the time with my hands, but seem to be unable to do so as an adult. :S

Awesome!

Sweet the coming on
Of grateful evening mild; then silent night
With this her solemn bird and this fair moon,
And these the gems of heaven, her starry train.
