On Frozen Pond

Here are a few macro shots I took a few weeks ago at Starved Rock S.P.

It had been warm & dry, so there was not much ice in the canyons. It did get cold overnight and the trickles of water were starting to freeze, making for some interesting effects. Like these leaves frozen just under the surface.

Sweet the coming on
Of grateful evening mild; then silent night
With this her solemn bird and this fair moon,
And these the gems of heaven, her starry train.

I liked the way the ice formed ripples around the rocks. It reminded me of those gravel Japanese dry gardens.

Great shots Cristine! That fungus shot stuff looks like a fruit rollup! 8O I was wondering where they got that stuff. :S

Nice shots, all of them.
I think I like this one the best.
