Up here in northern WI we ice fish when winter arrives. Actually, this time of year the pike are very active under the ice, and we could see green weeds thriving down there, too.

In case you are wondering, he was not let go...swallowed the hook. However, he made a good dinner for several people.

Great shot Jeff,
He looks like a really healthy fish.
Man...I don't think I could handle that kind of weather though. Like James, I'm from the south, and planing on staying warm as much as possible. It was in the 70's today, and now I remember why I like living here so much. Regards, Kurt Horsley

What a beautiful fish! The ice is just getting thick enough to be safe here in Utah; but we don't get many pike here.... mostly trout and kokanee salmon.
Happy New Year Jeff.

Very nice Jeff. Unfortunatly, it was 75 degrees here today, and I was limited to riding my motorcycle for diversion.

Well, having grown up in SE PA, ice fishing was totally foreign to me, too, until we bought this place in northern WI this spring. I have friends up here who are expanding my horizons....
